Mercedes-Benz moving jobs to metro Atlanta headquarters

(The Center Square) – Mercedes-Benz is growing its North American corporate headquarters in Sandy Springs, a move that would bring up to 500 new jobs to metro Atlanta, state officials said Thursday.

The company is also investing in a new research and development facility that will be near the corporate headquarters, according to a news release.

Existing sales and financial services teams, as well as corporate functions, will be housed in the Sandy Springs headquarters known as 1MB. Mercedes-Benz employs about 800 people in Georgia, state officials said.

“This strengthens our position for continued growth and reinforces our established commitment to the U.S. market,” said Jason Hoff, CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America. “Bringing our teams closer together will enable us to be more agile, increase speed to market, and ensure the best customer experience.”

The move will be completed by April 2026, according to a news release from state officials.

“This expansion is a testament to both Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to excellence and metro Atlanta’s strength as a hub for innovation and talent. When the 1MB facility opened in 2018, it quickly became an integral part of our business landscape, driving economic growth and elevating the region’s global presence,” said Katie Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber.

Gov. Brian Kemp touted Georgia’s economic position on Wednesday in a news conference discussing Georgia Power’s rate freeze agreement with the Public Service Commission. More than 193,000 job announcements and over $90 billion have been invested in Georgia since 2019, he said.

“Georgia continues to lead the way in the future of mobility and technical innovation, attracting world-class companies like Mercedes-Benz that are driving the automotive industry forward,” Kemp said. “We’re excited that a job creator that already has close ties to Georgia is doubling down on that choice and growing their presence here in the best state for business and opportunity.”
